As you may be aware, there are on-going safety concerns with the state of the church roof of St Mary’s in Brymbo. There is evidence of loose and falling slate tiles from the damaged roof, which have been confirmed by reports prepared by professional advisors. The Church in Wales is working to find a way to ensure visitors to the churchyard remain safe and access to graves can be maintained throughout the churchyard. In the next few days, important signs will go up on gates into the churchyard and inside the churchyard itself to remind visitors that the site is dangerous and extra care is needed. This will be followed by further measures to ensure everyone’s safety. Details of what these measures will be are still to be confirmed. The Church in Wales is working with the local council to make sure the site is as safe as possible, without compromising access to graves.
