Aled Mission Area, serving the north Wales coast and hinterland around Colwyn Bay and Abergele, will welcome a new priest to its ministry team on Sunday (16 March).

The Revd Ashleigh Askwith will be licensed during a special service at St Mary’s Church in Llanfair Talhaiarn led by the Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron.

Ashleigh joins the team from a ministry in Low Marple, Compstall, and High Lane in the Diocese of Chester. She will work alongside the Revd Gareth Erlandson in the pastoral care of the church communities of Old Colwyn, Llanddulas, Llysfaen, Llanelian, Betws yn Rhos, Llanfair Talhaiarn, Llangernyw, and Llansannan.

Ashleigh comes to north Wales with her husband, Josh, and daughter, Abbie. Josh is also ordained and will be serving as Canon Pastor in St Asaph. Ashleigh’s ministry has included a particular focus on pastoral care, community engagement, and creative approaches to worship. In her leisure time, Ashleigh enjoys reading, exploring the outdoors, and photography.

Bishop Gregory said: “We are pleased to welcome the ordained husband and wife team of Ashleigh and Josh from the Diocese of Chester. Ashleigh is a young and enthusiastic wife, priest, and mother whose ministry I am delighted to affirm in Aled Mission Area.”

Ashleigh said:“I’m delighted to be joining the ministry of the Diocese of St Asaph and look forward to serving the community, getting to know the people, and sharing in the life and worship of the Church. It’s a privilege to step into this new role, and I’m excited for the journey ahead”.

The service to welcome Ashleigh takes place on Sunday 16 March at 3.30pm at St Mary’s Church in Llanfair Talhaiarn. All are welcome.
