People from churches across northeast and mid-Wales involved in supporting Ukrainian Refugees are being invited to share their experiences and lessons.

The Diocese of St Asaph is launching an online forum to encourage and inspire supporters and help them create a strategic approach to responding to the needs of Ukrainian refugees and their host families. 

The first forum is taking place on Thursday 20 October from 4.30pm – 5.30pm on Zoom and it is hoped these will be come regular gatherings.

The diocese is working with Link International, a Llandudno based charity with links to Local Authorities and Welsh Government, as well as other organisations working with refugees.

The Engagement Officer for the Diocese of St Asaph, Sarah Wheat, said: “There are lots of churches and communities across the diocese supporting refugees from Ukraine and we want the forum to be a place to share experiences and learn from each other, as well as encouraging and inspiring others to either get involved or set up something similar in their own community.

“We are working in partnership with Link International to launch this forum. They have been involved with the Ukrainian situation from the beginning and will bring up to date and accurate information as well as offering ways to support forum members.

“The forum will be an opportunity for people from across the diocese to be part of a growing ministry that responds to the needs of Ukrainian refugees and their host families. Please get in touch with me if you have anything you would like discussed at the first meeting.”
