Top comedians to perform at St Asaph Comedy and Carols Event

Top comedians are to perform in a special online Comedy and Carols event for the Diocese of St Asaph this Christmas.

The evening of fun, laughter and carol singing on Tuesday 22 December will feature Daliso Chaponda who won the Golden Buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent and will be performing at the Royal Variety Show this weekend (5/6 December) watched by over 150 million people worldwide. He will be joined by Barbara Nice, the overenthusiastic housewife alter-ego of Birmingham-based performer Janice Connolly, who previously appeared in Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, and is well known on the circuit for her lively, upbeat presence.

The evening is hosted by Tony Vino who has been touring the comedy scene since 2005.  Other names on the bill are Paul Karenza, writer for BBC1’s Miranda and Not Going Out, among countless others and Andy Kind, who has performed almost 2,000 gigs since he started out in 2005, hosted his own radio show and is a regular at all the major UK Christian festivals.

Event organiser, Tim Feak, the under 25s officer for the Diocese of St Asaph, said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome these amazing world-class comedians to St Asaph, in a virtual way. This year has been difficult for so many people, we hope that this event will bring a little laughter and fun into our communities over Christmas.  Comedy and Carols is open to everyone and aimed at all ages.  It’s for anyone, whether they’re involved in church life or not, who would  benefit from some joy and good times at the moment.”

The evening, which will take place via ZOOM, is free but places are limited to 90 households, so people are encouraged to sign up quickly, using the Eventbrite link.  During the evening there will be an opportunity for the audience to make a donation to this year’s Diocesan Offering for DASU – the Domestic Abuse Safety Unit which supports anyone experiencing domestic abuse in north and mid Wales.

The Diocese of St Asaph looks after more than 200 churches and 51 church schools across Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham and parts of Powys and Gwynedd.  It is part of the Church in Wales, an independent Province of the worldwide Anglican Community.
