A new priest for Rhyl will be welcomed by the community in a service led by the Bishop of St Asaph.

The Revd Janice Brown will take up her new post at  St Ann’s Church in the town, at a special service on Monday 19 February, led by the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron and the Archdeacon of St Asaph, the Venerable Andy Grimwood. The service begins at 7pm and all are welcome.

Bishop Gregory Cameron said: “I am delighted Janice has accepted the opportunity to take up ministry in Rhyl and the wider Aber-Morfa Mission Area. St Ann’s Church, where she will be based, is set for a time of challenge and excitement.”

Janice was born and raised for the first 20 years of her life in Polbeth, a village 17 miles outside Edinburgh. She came to Wales in the late 1980s with her growing family, first living in the Conwy area before moving to Pen Llyn. For Janice, Wales is now regarded well and truly as home.

Janice was ordained in 2004 and served in the Diocese of Bangor before joining the Diocese of St Asaph in 2020 as a priest in Aled Mission Area leading the church communities of Llysfaen and Llanddulas.

Janice said: “I am definitely a people person. I love meeting and chatting to people from all walks of life and sharing God’s Good News whenever opportunity arises. I have a passion to meet families and young people and walk with them on life’s journey in unstable times.”

Janice loves the outdoors – whether in the garden, walking along the coast, or in the mountains. She is proud of her black belt in kickboxing, and having given up full contact sports, she now keeps fit in the gym. Janice includes knitting, sewing and baking amongst her more sedate interests.

Janice’s service of welcome takes place on Monday 19 February at 7pm at St Ann’s Church in Rhyl.
