The Bishop of St Asaph is to visit Llangynhafal to license a new priest in the Dyffryn Clwyd Mission Area, near Ruthin.

The Rt Revd Gregory Cameron will license the Revd Kathryn Hall at a service in St Cynhafal’s Church on Sunday (23 November). Kathryn will have pastoral responsibility for the Llanbedr DC group of churches.

Kathryn was born and raised in Yoxall, a small rural village in Staffordshire. From a young age, Kathryn had felt a strong calling to nursing and trained at the Countess of Chester Hospital. She had the privilege of working in nursing for 30 years, predominantly within Operating Theatres and Intensive Care, before moving into Elderly Care and later working as a disability assessor prior to beginning ordination training in 2021.

Kathryn’s call to priestly ministry came during a parish retreat, although it would be another 17 years before that call reached fulfilment with Kathryn’s ordination in 2023.  For the past two-and-a-half years Kathryn has been serving as Assistant Curate in the Estuary and Mountain Mission Area, rooted in Flint and Flint Mountain.

Commenting on Kathyrn’s new ministry, Bishop Gregory said: “Kathryn has had a highly successful curacy in Flint, and it is a pleasure to welcome her to a new chapter of ministry now in Dyffryn Clwyd. I am sure that people will respond positively to her caring pastoral ministry and witness to God’s love.”

Kathryn has been married to Robert for 32 years, and they have three grown-up children. In her spare time Kathryn enjoys family days out, playing board games, reading, and she has recently revived a former hobby of cross stitch.

Kathryn said: “I look forward to getting to know and walking alongside the people of Dyffryn Clwyd as together we seek to discern where God is leading us.”

The service to license Kathryn takes place on Sunday 23 November at 3.30pm at St Cynhafal’s Church in Llangynhafal, near Ruthin.
