The Bishop of St Asaph is to license a new priest for the communities of Llanrwst, Glan Conwy and Eglwysbach in the Conwy Valley.

The Revd Huw Bryant will be licensed in the Aberconwy Mission Area on Sunday 24 November at a special service in St Grwst’s Church in Llanrwst.

Huw Bryant has been serving as Mission Area Leader in Dyffryn Clwyd Mission Area for the past four-and-a-half years, and said: “I am very much looking forward to moving to the Conwy Valley and joining in the exciting things that are happening across the Aberconwy Mission Area that seek to grow faith, bring hope, and demonstrate love in its communities.”

Huw was ordained in 2013, serving first on the Llŷn Peninsular in Bro Eifionydd and Bro Enlli in the Diocese of Bangor, before moving to Dyffryn Clwyd. In his life before ordination, Huw was a forester and did many contracts from the Forestry Commission in Llanrwst. As he now moves to the Llanrwst area, Huw is looking forward to getting to know the people as well as he knows the woodlands.

Commenting on Huw’s new role, Bishop Gregory Cameron said: “Huw brings a wealth of talent, and as a natural Welsh speaker he should be a good fit for ministry in Llanrwst. With a newly reordered church in Llanrwst, Huw will be able to build on his predecessor Sarah’s ministry in proclaiming the love of God.”

The service at St Grwst’s Church in Llanrwst on Sunday starts at 3.30pm and all are welcome.
