The communities of Penrhyn Bay and Llangystennin are to welcome their new priest on Sunday (19 April). The Revd Julie (Jules) Harris will be licensed by the Bishop of St Asaph as a priest in the Aberconwy Mission Area, with pastoral responsibility for Penrhyn Bay and Llangystennin.

Jules moves to Penrhyn Bay from north Devon, where she has been ministering since 2023 in the Hartland Deanery which includes the island of Lundy. She describes herself as having an insatiable appetite to share the gospel and to care for those she is called to serve.

Jules grew up in the Black Country in the West Midlands before moving to the Westcountry 26 years ago. Prior to her ordination in 2017 she was a Senior Credit Manager. She has been married to Graham for 18 years and has a son, David, from a previous marriage, who lives in Staffordshire. When not working, Jules enjoys reading, swimming, knitting, and has recently taken up quilting which she thoroughly enjoys. She says she feels very blessed to live the life she does and thanks God every day for his many blessings and gifts, including moving to Penrhyn Bay. She said: “I am very humbled to be joining my two new congregations in north Wales and do so with joy and a heart to share the Gospel in the communities I will serve.”

Welcoming Jules to the Diocese of St Asaph, Bishop Gregory Cameron said: “It is good to have Jules join us from her ministry in Devon and I am sure she will bring continued vigour and challenge to the communities of Penrhyn Bay and Llangystennin as she leads the Mission Hub at St David’s.

“I am tremendously grateful to all who have helped during the vacancy, and especially to Canon Quentin Bellamy who has provided faithful continuity of ministry there.”

The service of welcome for the Revd Jules Harries takes place on Sunday 19 April at 3.30pm in St David’s Church in Penrhyn Bay. All are welcome.
