New Mission Area for the Diocese of St Asaph

The Bishop of St Asaph is to commission a new Mission Area in the Diocese.

Tanat–Vyrnwy Mission Area will come into being at a special service on Sunday 2 February at St Myllin’s Church in Llanfyllin.  At the same time, the Revd Richard Burton will be licensed as its Mission Area Leader and Preb Norman Morris will become a part-time priest in the Mission Area, based at Llanraeadr Ym Mochnant.  The new appointments will join the existing clergy, Revd Hermione Morris, Revd Sarah Burton and Revd Peter Heaney.

The Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron said: “The church takes seriously its mission to our rural communities where we have some ancient, beautiful buildings facing the challenges of small congregations.  St Asaph Diocese is drawing 11churches into a new configuration to combine their talents and their heritage to create new hope.”

The new Mission Area combines the previously separate Tanat Valley Mission Area and Vyrnwy Mission Area as a new single legal entity.  The service of commissioning and licensing takes place at 11am on Sunday 2 February at St Myllin’s, Church in Llanfyllin.  All are welcome to attend.
