Gala Concert aims to raise funds to support the people of Ukraine

A gala concert in aid of humanitarian relief in Ukraine is taking place at St Asaph Cathedral later this month (Friday 22 July).

Featuring Trelawnyd Male Voice Choir as well as singers Ann Atkinson, Tesni Jones and Owen Barton Davies, the concert is aiming to raise £3,000 for the International Committee of the Red Cross.

All the artists performing, along with the backstage crew and Cathedral staff, are donating their time for free to ensure as much money as possible goes to help the people of Ukraine.

The Dean of St Asaph Cathedral, the Very Reverend Nigel Williams said: “We are delighted to be hosting Music for Ukraine in partnership with Trelawnyd Male Voice Choir. It promises to be a very special occasion and I’m hoping we sell out to ensure as much money as possible is raised to support the people of Ukraine.”

Tickets for the event are available from Translators’ Tearoom next door to St Asaph Cathedral priced at £10. The tearoom is open Monday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm.  Doors open at 7pm on Friday 22 July and the concert will begin at 7.30pm.

Churches across the diocese are supporting the people of Ukraine in various ways. A dedicated webpage run by Link International is keeping churches and mission areas up to date with information to support Ukrainian refugees arriving in north Wales. The page can be accessed at https://www.link-international.org/cinw  and provides churches with up to date information.
