Communities around Ruthin will welcome a new Vicar on Sunday, as the Revd Huw Bryant moves from the Diocese of Bangor to become the Mission Area Leader of Dyffryn Clwyd.
The Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron and Archdeacon Andy Grimwood will lead a service of welcome in St Garmon’s Church, Llanarmon-yn-Iâl, at 3.30 p.m.

In addition to being Mission Area Leader across the churches in and around Ruthin, Huw Bryant will have pastoral responsibility for the communities of Llangynhafal, Llanynys, Llanarmon-yn-Iâl, Llanychan and Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd.
Huw is married to Reiko. She is from Japan and has settled happily into rural Welsh life. They have three children: Megan, 10, Idris, 8, and Manon, 3.
Bishop Gregory Cameron said: “We are looking forward to welcoming Huw and Reiko and their young family to the diocese on March 1st. Huw brings to his ministry as Mission Area Leader a clear understanding of the challenges that face rural communities and he will be working with his lay and ordained colleagues in developing the Mission Area’s priorities of worshipping God, growing the Church and loving the world.”
Huw was ordained in the Diocese of Bangor in 2013 and comes to the Vale of Clwyd from Pwllheli where he has been Associate Priest since 2016. As a former forester, Huw has a love of rural life and remembers one summer spent working around Dyffryn Clwyd cutting grass for a local contractor.
Huw said: “I look forward to reacquainting myself with the beautiful country lanes in the area and getting to know the communities there. There is such a depth of history and faith in the area and I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to come and learn the stories and serve the people as we look to the vision of the church in the future.”
