Gift Aid

Gift Aid allows any charity to claim from the Inland Revenue tax paid on a donation made by any tax-paying donor. Put simply, Gift Aid….

  • Allows the church to claim an additional £2.50 for every £10 donated.
  • Requires the donor to sign one declaration to cover all future giving.
  • Declaration must include the donors name, address, POSTCODE, charity name, date of declaration and the following text “that the donor must have paid enough UK Income or Capital Gains Tax to cover all of their charitable donations and that other taxes such as Council Tax and VAT do not qualify”

Gift Direct

Gift Direct is a scheme administered by the Church in Wales whereby donations are received, a gift aid claim is submitted and all the money is paid directly into the church bank account.  There is no charge for this service and an annual thank you letter is sent on behalf of the church.

The benefits of using Gift Direct are:

  • You, the giver are always in control
  • Managing donations is easier for you and your church
  • Churches get a regular monthly amount which helps planning
  • Using the scheme protects church volunteers from handling cash
  • If you are tax payer, Gift Aid can be claimed – increasing the value of your donation
  • You can still use Gift Direct even if you are not a tax payer.

Go to Gift Direct to sign up, amend your donation or cancel your giving.

To order Gift Direct leaflets, which also contain the form used to sign up for the scheme contact Sian Charlesworth in the Diocesan Office.
