The Revd Dominic Cawdell will begin his new ministry in Holywell, Greenfield and in the wider Mission Area of Estuary and Mountain on Sunday 1 November. Dominic’s ministry will be inaugurated with a service of welcome led by the Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron that will take place online due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Bishop Gregory said: “Dominic is the youngest priest in the Diocese of St Asaph and will bring a dedicated and enthusiastic ministry to Holywell and Greenfield. Both communities have ancient Christian roots, and Dominic’s ministry will be to equip the churches to continue this ancient tradition of Christian witness and develop new ways to proclaim the Faith afresh today.”
Dominic was born and raised near Mold. After attending Argoed High School, he read Theology at Cambridge University before training for ordained ministry at St Padarn’s Institute in Cardiff. Dominic comes to Holywell having served his training curacy in the communities of Rossett and Llay.
Dominic is a Professed Brother of the Oratory of the Good Shepherd, an international dispersed Anglican religious community. In his leisure time he is an avid reader, enjoys the theatre, and has an eclectic interest in music, ranging from Classical to House. As Dominic does not currently drive, it will become a familiar sight to see him cycling around the town on his electric bike.
Dominic said: “I am really looking forward to beginning this new ministry and working with all God’s people in the Mission Area to share the Gospel with the people of Holywell and Greenfield. Although starting in challenging times, I believe there are real opportunities for us to work together to build a Church where all are welcome to experience the love and saving power of Jesus.”
