Church hall becomes vaccination centre in Shotton

A church hall in Shotton in Flintshire is being used as a community Covid-19 vaccination centre.

St Ethelwold’s Church Hall on Shotton Lane is being used twice a week by a nearby doctors surgery to vaccinate their patients. In usual times the large hall is home to several local dance groups, self help groups, a mindfulness gathering, community events like Bingo, parties and cultural celebrations, as well as church-related activities, such as Mothers’ Union.

The Vicar of St Ethelwold’s, Father Steve Green said: “The church hall is the largest hall in Shotton and along with its sister hall at St Andrew’s Community Hub provides excellent facilities with good and safe parking.  The hall has previously been used as a Flu vaccination hub and I and the Hall Committee  were glad to be able to offer the hall for this essential vaccination programme.  Making the hall available in this way, is part of what the church can offer to the community here.”

Shotton Main Surgery is offering vaccinations from St Ethelwold’s Church Hall.  The building has two entrances allowing the surgery to set up a safe and effective one-way system for those attending for vaccination.

St Ethelwold’s Church is part of the Borderlands Mission Area, a group of 21 churches serving communities in Flintshire. It is part of the Diocese of St Asaph, one of the six dioceses in the Church in Wales, an independent Province of the Worldwide Anglican Communion.
