The Bishop of St Asaph joined the new Bread of Life worshiping community at St Peter’s Church in Holywell today (17 October).

Bishop Gregory, who is confirming 20 new Christians from the church on Sunday, joined the congregation for their weekly Eucharist service which is then followed by lunch and an opportunity to shop in £2 The Pantry.

St Peter’s, which is the newest of four mission hub churches in the Diocese of St Asaph, launched the £2 Foodclub in response to the Covid pandemic in 2020. Since then it has regularly supported 80+ families with their weekly shopping, offered advice and prayer to those coming along and signposted to other support.

Last year, the £2 Foodclub was relaunched as The Table which offers both a chance to shop and a two course hot meal. Everyone is welcome and there are no barriers to attending for lunch or shopping. Today, Bishop Gregory joined those at The Table for a beef or vegetarian lasagna or mac ‘n’ cheese followed by apple crumble and custard.  Sandwiches are also available for those who prefer a cold option.
