Mental Health First Aid

Course and booking details available here

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until the appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

It seems now more than ever people are struggling with financial demands, loneliness and isolation and generally from what we hear on the news or social media.  With this in mind the diocese is offering two mental health first aid courses:

  • Youth Mental Health First Aid course
  • Adult Mental Health First Aid course

In addition, the diocese offers Mental Health First Aid Awareness sessions. These are delivered in-person and last approximately two hours. These are a useful introduction to the issues.

The Adult eMHFA Wales course teaches adults how to provide Mental Health First Aid to friends, families, co-workers and people in their community and can be completed from the convenience of your home or office, without the need to travel and at your own pace through interactive modules and webinars online.

eAMHFA Course Structure – Mental Health First Aid Wales (mhfawales.org)

The cost per participant is £26.40, this is a cost charged by Mental Health First Aid Wales.  As with physical first aid the training is valid for 3 years and a 4 hour refresher course can be taken before the end of 3 years to update the training.
