On Monday, September 30^th, the Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron, will be visiting St Dunawd’s Church, Bangor Isycoed, to licence the Revd Marcus Pipe as a new priest in Maelor Mission Area.

Marcus Pipe has been serving as Assistant Curate in Wrexham Mission Area for the past two years. He now returns to his home area to take over responsibility for the churches in Bangor Isycoed,  Marchwiel and Erbistock  on a part-time basis.

‘To say that I’m thrilled and excited to be taking up my new ministry in the Maelor Mission Area would be a huge understatement!’, says Marcus Pipe. ‘I know a lot of people at Bangor and Marchwiel from my time on placement as I prepared for ordination, and know quite a few people at Erbistock.’

Marcus succeeds Canon Sue Hutton who retires from stipendiary ministry at the end of September after faithful service in the Diocese of St Asaph for over 38 years.  Marcus is grateful to her for all her help, support, and advice she has provided him in ensuring an effective transition in leadership of the churches.

Marcus is married to Kate with two grown up children, Tommy and Lily.  Marcus is a former Army Officer and IT professional.  In his spare time Marcus is a keen motor cyclist.

Commenting on Marcus’ new role, Bishop Gregory Cameron says, ‘Marcus has made a great contribution to ministry at St Giles’ Church, Wrexham, during his curacy there and it is good to welcome him to a new role in his home Mission Area of Maelor’. Bishop Gregory will be joined by the new Archdeacon of Montgomery, the Venerable Gerwyn Capon, who will install Marcus as the first new priest in his archdeaconry since joining the diocese on September 1^st.
