Premiere of Year 6 Anthem at St Asaph's Leavers Service

A virtual leavers service for Year 6 children in the Diocese of St Asaph has premiered a new Anthem.

The service created by the Schools team at the diocese includes the world premiere of a new song, Year 6 Anthem written especially for the leavers by Chip K, a well-known Christian artist.

Children across the diocese have had a chance to learn the song ahead of the service and its premiere was included in the service.

The Under 25s officer for the diocese, who developed the service, Tim Feak, said: “Sadly this year our children will not have the opportunity to take part in a Leavers Service.  It has become an important element of a child’s transition into Secondary Education and for many a spiritual and personal milestone.  The team here have put together a service which was released at 1pm on the 1^st July and uploaded onto our Diocesan YouTube Channel.  Some of our schools will use this immediately, others as term time continues.  All children and families will have the opportunity to watch this online as it is pre -recorded.”

The service includes a message from the Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron, prayers from the Warden of Ruthin, the Revd Stuart Evans, dramatised readings by youth chaplains, Esther and Jon Andrews and a talk from under 25s officer, Tim Feak.

Last year, the diocese held two leavers services,  one at St Asaph Cathedral and one at St Mary’s Church in Welshpool.  More than 550 year 6 pupils from across the diocese attended those services.
