The Anglican churches on Deeside will be joining together on Sunday afternoon (29 June) to welcome the Revd Darren Quinlan as the new vicar for Connah’s Quay.  The Service of Welcome will be led by the Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron and the Archdeacon of Wrexham, the Ven Hayley Matthews.

Bishop Gregory Cameron said: “It is good to welcome Darren Quinlan as a new priest for Connah’s Quay and its congregations. Darren has only recently been ordained following a career in policing and he is looking forward to serving with enthusiasm in this new context.”

The Revd Darren Quinlan’s journey in ministry began with the Church of England in Manchester where he served in the mission communities of Rochdale and Oldham.  This gave him a deep appreciation for the power of faith in everyday life, especially in communities that are rich in resilience, diversity, and hope. He said: “I am delighted to begin this new chapter of ministry in Deeside Mission Area.  It is a real privilege to be called to serve this community, and I feel truly blessed that God has guided me and my family to Connah’s Quay.”

Earlier this year, Darren married his wife, Mirela, and they are looking forward to beginning their future at the New Vicarage in Connah’s Quay. In his free time, Darren loves long walks through the countryside or along the beach as it is often in quiet open spaces that he most clearly feels God’s presence and peace as he reflects on the wonders of God’s creation.

The service of welcome takes place at St Mark’s Church in Connah’s Quay at 3.30pm. All are welcome.
