Bells will be tolled in churches across the Diocese of St Asaph at 12 noon today following the death of Her Majesty.

Churches are opening their doors to offer space to pray, light a candle and sign books of condolence.

This evening, St Asaph Cathedral will join with Cathedrals across the country in a service of Choral Evensong to offer prayers for Her Majesty and the Royal Family. The service at 6pm will be led by the Dean of St Asaph Cathedral, the Very Reverend Nigel Williams and all are welcome.  A book of condolence is being opened.

Guidance for churches, suitable prayers and liturgies are available on the Church in Wales website. 

The following churches are open for prayer and or have books of condolence available to sign:

All Saints church Ffynnongroyw and Llanasa church

During the ten days of mourning, there will be a Book of Condolences in All Saints church and Llanasa church. Our churches are open for anybody wishing to visit to remember our Queen, and candles can be lit on Sunday and Wednesday morning.

The Marble Church (St Margaret’s) Bodelwyddan

The church will be open on Friday as usual and a book of condolence will be open to sign. There will be a service held in the Queens memory prior to her funeral, details will be posted in time.

St Mary’s Mold

St Mary’s the Virgin, Mold will be open today (Friday) from 2-6pm and Saturday 10-6 for prayer and reflection. A book of condolence will be available to sign.

St Mark’s Church, Connah’s Quay

The Parish Church of St. Mark’s (on the top of the Quay hill) Connah’s Quay will be open for prayer from 11:00 – 3:00 & from 6:00 – 7:30 this evening. There will be a Book of Condolence to sign.

St Collen, Llangollen

The church bells will ring out today to honour the life and service of Queen Elizabeth II.

St Giles, Wrexham

A book of condolences is open from today.

St Myllin’s Church

There is an opportunity at 11.45hrs today to gather in St Myllin’s Church to pray and light candles following the death of Her Majesty the Queen. The church bell will be tolled at 12.00md. In agreement with the Mayor and Town Council, the town’s Book of Condolence will also be available in St Myllin’s Church throughout the period of national mourning. The Church building will be open during daylight hours.

St Mary’s Church, Welshpool

St Mary’s will be open for private prayer from 12noon, Friday. This Sunday at 11am, a Civic Service of Reflection and Prayer for Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II. All welcome.

Corwen Church

In accordance to the Corwen Church being open for prayer at 12pm Friday 9th September, a single bell will be carefully tolled for one hour at the Church, in mourning following the passing of HM Elizabeth II. This is a very rare and unique moment, as a bell has not sounded in this fashion at this Church for a significant period of time.

St Mary’s Church, Nercwys

The church will be open for private prayer between 2-4 today (Friday) and 10-4 Saturday.

St James’ Church, Wrexham

The Church will be open today (Friday) from 12noon until 2pm for private prayer. Also a Book of Condolence will be available to sign.
